In this edition, I would like to offer you a preview of the changes that I have in mind for this section; this will continue to be information about the physical experience in the workplace, and how it may be impacting your life and relationships, whether with your body, your partner, or your family. This section will be expanded to include more inspiration on how you can tune-in to your passion, the service you came here to offer, and some examples of people who are responding to the call by following their passion and the guidance of the heart.

First, have a look at Oglala Sioux chef, Sean Sherman. This chef is on a mission to re-introduce “true” Native cuisine. He contends, and rightly so, that invasion and settler-colonialism impacted the Native American diet. The colonial diet created disorders and dis-eases that were unheard of before the arrival of European settlers. With the support of Kickstarter Sherman plans to open the first all-Indigenous Native American restaurant.

Next, I was surprised to learn from looking at a Dick Gregory video (yes! I listen to Dick), that dehydration and sleep deprivation are two of the largest overlooked, least discussed problems we face in the U.S. While it is quite easy to address dehydration, drink more water, taking ourselves to bed at night may not be as easy to address sleep deprivation because of our relationship with technology. This article from PsychCentral sheds some light on the impact that our computer, cell phone and television screens may have on our sleep behavior.

Finally, this idea of creating a New Narrative that replaces work and earning a living with creating, gifting and sharing is huge! For most of us, especially for baby boomers, we were raised on the belief in working hard, earning a decent living and doing what we have to do to put food on the table. These beliefs were passed on to us from our parents, reiterated and reinforced by our peers, teachers and political leaders. This belief is now being challenged in light of what we are coming to know about the power of consciousness. We are allowing ourselves to observe whether there is actually a relationship between what we think and feel and what transpires in our everyday physical experience. I understand how some of us may feel like those who were told after hundreds of years of believing that the earth is flat, that it is in “fact” round.  How disoriented and angry those people must have been! And then to find out that there were people who always knew that it was round; and they were sailing and partying all over the world? What a bummer. But think about, and think about it truly. If you knew that you could create a different life, a life based on doing what it is your heart is calling you to do, would you go to that job every day for the rest of your work life?

Neither would I.
